POSITION TITLE: FACULTY, AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY
STATUS: Full time Tenure Track
DEPARTMENT: Automotive Technology
DIVISION: Academic Affairs
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Department Chair
PLACEMENT: Full time Faculty
MINIMUM PAY RATE: Placement on salary schedule is dependent on qualifications. Qualifications include education and related work experience.

POSITION SUMMARY
Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a standard load. Course assignments may be late afternoon, evening, Saturday, and at branch campuses or satellite centers. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES ANDKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teach a minimum of 15 credit hour load per semester including all subject areas encompassed by NATEF Automotive Program Certification.
2. Possess and maintain a thorough knowledge of the subject matter necessary to the assigned course load; continue to seek professional development and industry certification. Assist in the preparation of data and documentation for program certification.
3. Work closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements, curriculum, and academic support. Articulate new curriculum as necessary and/or determined by the Partnership for Career and College Success (PCCS). Assist other automotive staff in developing and modifying existing curriculum.
4. Participate in course development, assessment, and planning activities.
5. Be willing to teach online and/or blended courses.
6. Monitor the dual credit arrangements with the area high schools and career centers.
7. Participate in and/or actively lead Student Club sponsorship responsibilities.
8. Demonstrate experience and leadership in the incorporation of appropriate technology in the classroom.
9. Participate as an equal partner in the maintenance and upkeep of the classroom and lab facilities including keeping the contents functional and up-to-date. Assist in writing equipment specifications, ordering equipment, inventory and selection of instructional materials, tools and equipment.
10. Assist students with academic advising and job search.
11. Participate in departmental meetings, automotive advisory meetings, articulation meetings, and serve on committees.
12. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
13. Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
14. Teach at other campus sites as needed.
15. Meet job requirements specified in the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Education Act of 2006.
16. Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. AAS Degree in Automotive Technology.
2. Master ASE Certification.
3. Four years of automotive technician work experience and/or teaching experience in the Automotive Technology field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in a suitable technical discipline or a combination of work and teaching experience.
2. College-level teaching experience in the Automotive Technology field.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Normal classroom physical demands.
2. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
3. Must be able to lift at least 40lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual classroom and lab environment.
