School of Automotive (Distance Education)

The School of Automotive at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for Assistant Instructor, Assistant Lecturer, or Assistant Professor of Practice positions within its Baccalaureate Automotive Technology distance education (DE) program. The positions require teaching undergraduate automotive business management courses and/or automotive technical courses. Courses are held at the off-campus location(s) in the Chicago, IL region. The positions are term, non-tenure track appointments that begin August, 2022.

Required Qualifications: Degree in automotive, English, engineering, technology, business, education, or related discipline. Rank is based on academic degree held at time of appointment. Assistant instructor requires a baccalaureate degree; Assistant Lecturer requires a Masterís degree; and Assistant Professor of Practice requires a doctoral degree.

Minimum three (3) years of tested professional experience of related work experience and/or industry training/certifications. Tested professional experience encompasses a wide range of activities found throughout the automotive industry. Experience can include but is not limited to fleet management, dealership experience, automotive product retail/wholesale experience, etc.

Preferred Qualifications: Earned Masterís or Ph.D. degree in automotive, English, engineering, technology, business, education, or related discipline with experience in the automotive wholesale/manufacturer or retail level.
